Jeane founded Fund Raising Innovations for Non-Profits, a fund raising consulting firm in St. Louis, in 1994. Fund Raising Innovations specializes in strategic planning, board development, annual fund development and grant proposal writing for nonprofit organizations. Clients include groups in the fields of health care, education, environmental protection, shelter and counseling for battered women and children, legal aid, housing, seniors and the arts. She is the former volunteer Editor-in-Chief of the CharityChannel.com e-newsletter Grants and Foundation Review. She publishes the Nonprofit Q&A, her own weekly column on fund raising and nonprofit-management that is distributed throughout North America. Jeane served for six years as a volunteer writer, editor, forum moderator and advisory board member for the Charity Channel, the professional, nonprofit on-line community. She has been featured in national fund raising publications such as the Chronicle of Philanthropy, Major Gifts Report, Nonprofit Report and Museum Marketing Tips. She was one of six senior researchers in North America who participated in the international Gilbert Center study on Internet fundraising and direct e-mail in 2001-02. She teaches workshops and seminars on grant proposal writing, direct mail writing, board management and fund raising on the Internet. In 2000, the book Secrets of Successful Fundraising, the Best from the Nonprofit Pros, was published containing her chapter, Let’s Get a Grant to Do That! Before starting Fund Raising Innovations in 1994, Jeane was the Vice-President for Development at Paraquad, a nationally recognized advocacy and education group for people with disabilities, and Director of Development for the Women’s Self Help Center, a counseling center for women who were physically or sexually abused. Her early work history was in journalism. Jeane Vogel and her husband, Steve Sorkin, have two children. Jeane is a volunteer for Girl Scouts, the Circus Day Foundation, her religious congregation and several organizations that serve children with disabilities.
